Through JADS MKB Datalab, David completed 3 projects for Van den Borne B.V.
In the first project, an internal classification model for products was created to establish an objective measure of product importance to the company. This ranges from regular importance (C), increased importance (B), to highest importance (A).
In the second project, the goal was to always satisfy customer demand, while minimising inventory costs. The classifications were used to establish appropriate inventory levels for the different levels of importance. The goal is to have higher safety stocks for products of increased importance, compared to regular products. In turn, products of highest importance have an even higher safety stock. All calculations are based on the historic sales data.
In the third project, the two prior projects were integrated with the existing IT-infrastructure. The integration is important to ensure longevity and up-to-date calculations.
A detailed description of the project can be found here.
